And the winners are ... Perfect weather blessed the City of Woodstock Christmas Jubilee Parade of Lights and parade watchers in the thousands who came to downtown Woodstock on Dec. 3 to witness more than 200 parade entries march down Main Street! Crossfire Youth Ministry’s float was voted Best Holiday Float. The Crossfire float focused on giving, rather than receiving, featuring a modern day Mary, Joseph and Jesus who were homeless. The float presented an Atlanta skyline and two street performers who sang Christmas songs. The ministry’s trash can drum band followed by street performers dancing with scarves carrying graffiti-themed banners asking everyone to “Love One Another as You Love Yourself!” Most Original Float honors went to …

We're a couple of thousand years from Christmas being a celebration of the birth of a Jewish boy in Bethlehem, but maybe we can get back to a simpler, less violent holiday commercialism.

I think it's found in Jeph Loeb's unbelievably awesome The Long Halloween, but the single greatest panel in comic book history shows the Joker, tiptoeing through the empty house of Harvey Dent, wearing a Santa hat and goofily singing the following to himself: Jingle bells, Batman smells Robin laid an egg The Batmobile lost a wheel And the Joker got away... In terms of meta-jokes, there can be none finer. First time I read those panels, I laughed out loud - not because of the Joker's obvious insanity, but because I immediately went back to the fifth grade, or whatever year it was that I first heard that song.
