Beach Keeps Jobs as Top Priority as a State Senator

Once the special election for Georgia Senate District 21 is certified, the North Fulton chamber president anticipates jumping right into his new "part-time" job.

Jobs, jobs, jobs. That continues to be Brandon Beach's mantra now that he is the apparent winner of the Georgia Senate District 21 seat after Tuesday's special election. "I'm going to work on what I said I was going to work on before the campaign: Foster an atmosphere that is a conducive environment to jobs, jobs, jobs," Beach said a day after the special election to fill a vacancy created when Chip Rogers quit before he even started what was to be his next term. "We need lower taxes and less regulation. I said that since day one of the campaign, and that's what we are going to work on," the Greater North Fulton Chamber of Commerce president and CEO – and soon to be state senator – said. Beach hopes the election is certified before the …

Senate District 21 candidate Sean Jerguson is a party to a case in which he and several others have allegedly defaulted on a loan totaling more than $600,000.

Georgia Senate District 21 candidate Sean Jerguson and his business partners are on the hook to repay a bank loan totaling over $600,000.  That's according to court documents filed in the U.S. District Court Northern District of Georgia. According to a lawsuit filed in September by Arkansas-based Bank of the Ozarks, J. Cary and Kimberly H. Bullard of Gainesville, owners of Sapphire Pointe LLC, Jerguson and his wife Kate have allegedly defaulted on a $611,670.95 loan and $28,956.52 in unpaid interests they received in 2004 to operate the Maplewood Mobile Home Park in Cedartown. Brandon Beach Carried Over Unused Campaign Cash

Beach did not refund campaign donations he received in 2010, a violation of state law.

Greater North Fulton Chamber of Commerce President & CEO Brandon Beach violated state law when he did not refund contributions raised for the 2010 primary election, according to Atlanta Unfiltered. Beach, running for the Georgia Senate at the time, raised $13,600 he planned to spend during the general election, but lost the primary.  The investigative journalism website notes the state requires candidates to give back contributions raised during an election period in which they are not on the ballot. The Alpharetta resident kept those contributions and also applied them to his 2012 primary challenge against former Senator Chip Rogers, the website notes.  Beach told Atlanta Unfiltered that he didn't know the contributions had to be refunded…

I've known Brandon Beach for a decade, and I believe he's the best candidate in this race. He will do his best to represent his constituents, and he'll work hard. As to the story on fund-raising, this portion of the "horse race" generates at least one article each election cycle. I think it's helpful to know who supports each candidate.   more ›
