  • On the blog post Who is Chip Rogers, Really?

I'm glad you had an opportunity to have your questions answered personally by Mr. Rogers regarding his abrupt departure. However, I personally think Mr. Rogers is old news. The former Senator quit his job and left the taxpayers of Cherokee County in the lurch with the cost of a special election. On top of that, he is still suckling off the tax payers of Georgia in his cushy $150k/yr. job downtown at GPB. According to someone who appears to be a spokesperson for Mr. Rogers, Grassroots, said that Chip "has an opportunity to be an involved dad now and took it at the Governor's request." At the request of the Governor implies that he was asked to leave. More than likely it's because of the national embarrassment he became to the Governor and the state of Georgia. If Mr. Rogers is the wonderful, honest man who had the best interest of his constituents in mind, "watching our backs" as is stated, then he should pay back the cost of the special election. Actions speak louder than words. It would definitely be a feather in the cap of his character. I am all for giving people the benefit of the doubt, but as far as Mr. Rogers is concerned, I took off my rose colored glass a LONG time ago.

Robert err Grassroots, according to this link,

    http://blogs.ajc.com/kyle-wingfield/2012/12/07/poll-position-should-politicians-who-resign-early-help-cover-the-cost-of-special-elections/

500k is the figure most are familiar with. For the sake of argument, what difference does it make if the special election cost 500k or 99k? It's still a debt that we, the taxpayers of Cherokee County, got duped into acquiring. If you are going to highlight the accomplishments of former Senator Rogers, how about Mr. Rogers add to his repertoire repayment of the special election he forced. That would speak volumes to his character. Asking @Involved Mom or anyone for that matter to have appreciation for what Mr. Rogers gave up to be a Senator, who now indulges in the opportunity to be an involved dad by working in a position that is tax payer funded at the Governor's request, is ludicrous. Most people find it difficult to like people who have integrity issues, let alone appreciate them.

Moonlighting in the political arena and collecting a handsome salary paid for by the taxpayers of Georgia at GPB. Chip, do the state of Georgia a favor and go away!

@Tonya, I'm sorry, I misread your post last night! Yes, you are correct. There is a vendetta against the school district not approving the charter school. Totally agree with you about the kids!

@Tonya, there is no vendetta. I'm just a mom who wants to make sure I do right by my children. The more I learned about CSUSA and EMO's, I wasn't impressed. Call it mothers intuition. The numerous issues I had with my two younger children and their IEP's, not to mention their teacher, was just too much to ignore. I say good luck to CCA and it's students. I say to the parents of CCA, if in doubt, go with your gut!

continued..I will heed your advice though and be happy with my school district. That advice is hard to argue with! The kids of this county are smart well rounded individuals who have teachers and administrators that are proud of them and their accomplishments. As a parent and student, how can you not be happy about that!
    Good day, Mr. Dukes.

Oh Danny, you will always be my nemesis. Sticks and stones. For the umpteenth time, I DO NOT hate charter schools! As for Marlow, I do have problem with her. I take issue with anyone who has malice intentions. If you think for one minute she is sincere about the children of this county, I would say "think again!" How many times has she uttered in her tirades at the school board meetings the word "children" or "kids"? Not once that I can recall. Stakeholders and taxpayers are who she says she is concerned about. The taxpayers and stakeholders she is referring to is the very small crowd of mostly CCA parents who are holding a grudge because their charter school was not approved by the CCSD. Kelly! is doing a great job though at mending the fence. She is building it so big around herself that she is alienating even the people that supported her! I admit, I am giddy watching the implosion! Danny math doesn't understand that 'taxpayer" does not limit tax to mean only property tax. I also pay state tax. That, is how I arrive that CCA and every other charter school is costing me and all citizens of GA more than a dime. Danny, I know more than I really want to know. Being "in the know" can be scary! Scary in that people like you are part of the equation.

Continued... You, on the other hand, hide behind several monikers. That being said, I have never once made a negative comment regarding our more than competent and successful school district in a Patch post or ever for that matter. It's not my style to burn bridges. As a matter of fact when I returned to my home district school after my children left CCA, I was welcomed back with open arms! I was lucky that my mother taught me that if I didn't have anything nice to say, don't say it at all. I would greatly appreciate if you please keep your next post on topic and most of all, please keep your negative thoughts and words to yourself.

Continued...By the way, I have a long list of why it didn't work for me and I'd be happy to show you emails with teachers and administration at CCA that would make you blush with embarrassment. I am pretty sure you are the one that is embarrassed though that your lack of kuth has been brought to light for all the members of the GCEF board to see. You are right in that I am interested in CCA, don't flatter yourself by calling it an obsession though. I plan to be just as vigiliant about their budget as you and yours are about CCSD. Considering CCA does use my tax dollars, that is taking money away from CCSD. So yeah, they are taking money away from CCSD. As far as test scores are concerned for CCA. Considering there are maybe 30 kids in 8th grade at CCA and CCSD educates 10x's that many 8th graders, I would certainly hope they would pass their writing test. Get back to me after CCA takes the more important reading and math tests and we'll compare apples and oranges again. I only have one login that I use with my real name. It's really easy for anyone who wants to check out my comment history on the Patch.
