Elm Street Cultural Arts Village
G Lora Grooms opened the Towne Lake Arts Center—now Elm Street Cultural Arts Village—in 2002 on a wing and a prayer and has been fortunate enough to see it grow into a driving force for the arts in Cherokee County.  Volunteers and professionals both on stage and off make it possible to keep music, art, dance and theatre alive right here in Woodstock. Her background includes dancing with the Mercury Ballet Company (and once even the Bolshoi Ballet) in Rochester, NY, singing with Opera West while studying with Deborah Mitchell of the Utah Opera, writing plays and musicals from classic literature and fairy tales as well as original works for youth to perform.  Her plays have been produced as far away as Santa Monica, CA and as close as Roswell, GA. Her four now grown children get the credit for teaching her most everything she knows about working with creative young minds.
