News Near Woodstock: House District 22 Race Heads to Runoff

Candidates Sam Moore and Meagan Biello will face off in a runoff, which is scheduled for Tuesday, Feb. 4.

Two candidates in the special election to fill Georgia House District 22 in northeast Cherokee County will head to a runoff election next month. 

Republican candidates Sam Moore and Meagan Biello will advance to the runoff, which is scheduled for Tuesday, Feb. 4. 

Moore, a business owner, received 924, or 37.98 percent, of those votes, while 576 votes, or 23.67 percent, went to Biello, a teacher at Creekview High School.

Contenders Jeff Duncan and Nate Cochran garnered 574 votes, or 23.59 percent, and 359 votes, or 14.76 percent, respectively, according to the Georgia Secretary of State's elections division.

By two votes, Biello topped Duncan in the special election scheduled to fill the seat vacated by State Rep. Calvin Hill of Hickory Flat, who passed away after a battle with leukemia.

State House District 22 covers a larger portion of east Cherokee County and smaller portions of west Forsyth and north Fulton counties
