Sheriff's Office Releases Sketch of Man Who Tried to Kidnap Boy

A rough composite of the man who authorities believe allegedly tried to abduct a 12-year-old boy last week in Woodstock has been released.

A forensic sketch artist with the Georgia Bureau of Investigation sat down with the child and created a sketch of the suspect, the Cherokee Sheriff's Office said on Tuesday. 

The man is described as a middle age white male who has a thin build, brown eyes and a grey scruffy beard. The child also said the suspect was wearing a tan desert camouflage hat and a blue shirt with a right breast pocket.

Deputies on Wednesday, March 26, responded to an area on Flint Drive in unincorporated Woodstock in response to a suspicious person call. 

According to a press release from the agency, a 12-year-old boy said when we got off the school bus, a man behind the wheel of a black Dodge truck approached him. 

Lt. Jay Baker with the sheriff's office said the man allegedly told the child that "his father was in the hospital and instructed the child to get in the vehicle so he could take him to his father."

The boy told the suspect he was going to talk with his mother first and, ran inside his home. The suspect then drove out of the subdivision, which is located off Trickum Road. 

The man driving the truck is believed to be middle aged, has gray hair and "scruffy" facial hair, Baker said. The truck had damage on its rear driver-side door. 

Investigators with the sheriff's office have canvassed the area and interviewed residents, but no one remembers seeing the truck on the day of the incident. 

The agency also has obtained images from the bus driver's interior camera that show a Dodge truck parked near the bus stop on the day of the incident.
