Woodstock Man Killed in Motorcycle Crash

Charges are pending in the crash, which also injured a motorcycle passenger.

A Woodstock man died Saturday morning in a two vehicle crash in eastern Cherokee County.

The Georgia State Patrol responded to the accident, which happened around 11:15 a.m. along Georgia Highway 20/Cumming Highway at Hampton Station Boulevard in the Macedonia community.

Frank Hyland, 61, of Woodstock was heading eastbound on a motorcycle when a Toyota Tundra, driven by Ball Ground resident Pablo Martinez, 49, pulled out onto highway from Hampton Station Boulevard and Hyland's motorcycle hit the left side of the truck, said GSP Spokesperson Gordy Wright.

Hyland was transported to WellStar Kennestone Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The passenger on the motorcycle, Mary Hyland, 55 of Woodsock was thrown from the motorcycle on impact. She was airlifted to Atlanta Medical Center where she was treated for her injuries.

The Georgia State Patrol's Specialized Collision Reconstruction Team is doing a follow-up investigation, and charges are pending upon the completion of their task, Gordy added.
