Running For Woodstock Mayor Will Cost $360

The Woodstock City Council on Monday approved qualifying fees for residents to run for mayor and three council seats up for grabs.

If you want to become the next mayor for the city of Woodstock, go ahead and set aside $360.

That's how much mayoral candidates for the Nov. 5 general election will have to pay to run for the seat currently held by incumbent Mayor Donnie Henriques.

If you aren't that ambitious but still want a career in politics, you can qualify to run for three Woodstock City Council seats — Wards 1, 3 and 5 — for $270.

The qualifying fees were approved by the council on Monday as part of its call to hold an election for the mayor and council seats, held by incumbents Randy Brewer of Ward 1, Bob Mueller of Ward 3 and Bud Leonard of Ward 5.

The four-year terms of the incumbents are set to expire on Dec. 31 and all have announced their plans to run for re-election.
