Woodstock Wants To Hold Tax Rate Steady

The City Council will vote to set its millage rate in August.

If the tax digest holds steady, Woodstock residents may not see a tax increase this year.

The Woodstock City Council tonight will hear a presentation on its proposed 2013 millage rate during its meeting. The meeting will begin at 7 p.m. at the Chambers at City Center.

The city's millage rate is currently 7.889 mills and the city expects to keep the rate the same. A homeowner whose house is valued at $160,000, with the standard $5,000 exemption, would pay around $482 in city property taxes.

Chief Financial Officer Robert Porche said he's recommending the city hold its millage rate in place.

The rate will be adopted during the council's second meeting in August, which will be at 7 p.m. Aug. 26.
