Woodstock Under Flood Watch

Rain is expected to continue through Thursday afternoon, and many waterways already are overflowing.

Woodstock, the rest of Cherokee County and most of north Georgia remain under a flood watch today and through Thursday afternoon as heavy rains that moved into the area Tuesday evening are overflowing rivers, lakes and streams.

The National Weather Service, which has issued flood warnings for Fulton and Gwinnett counties, also issued a wind advisory that expired at 10:45 a.m. Wednesday and included Cherokee. Wind gusts up to 35 mph accompanied the storm.

An estimated 2 inches of rain has fallen throughout north Georgia, and forecasts call for 1 to 2 inches more through this evening. Temperatures are expected to reach into the low 60s today.
