Mixed Breed Hound Seeks Home

Today a first person post from Aggie, a 26-pound, 18-month-old hound mix who is up for adoption from Angels Among Us Pet Rescue.

“My foster mommy says I am beautiful, but I have never heard of that dog breed before. When I first met my foster mommy I was so scared. Lots of people had been mean to me, but after meeting my mommy, I realized that I didn't need to be scared anymore. My mommy looked me directly in the eyes and told me that I was safe and I believed her.

“She tells me every day that I am a good girl. I don't go to the potty in the house and I like to rest quietly in my crate during the day. I really enjoy playing with my mommy's other dogs, but mommy says that I am not hyper. I don't know what that means, but I think it is a good thing. I am quiet and I have already learned "sit" and "down." Mommy thinks I understand what she means when she tells me to "roll over." I don't know what she means, but I figured out that if I lay on my back I get treats and a belly rub so I will just pretend to understand.

“Mom calls me a thief sometimes. I can't really help it; I like paper towels! I always give them back to mommy when she asks. I am already spayed and pretty healthy. I do have hookworms, but mommy and the doctor are giving me medicine to fix that.

“I would love to find a family of my very own. A fenced in yard would be great because leashes scare me a little bit (I am doing much, much better though). I love to play with kids too. I also met this thing that mom calls a cat. He is okay, I guess. He doesn't seem to want to play with me, but I don't get mad. Maybe one day he will want to play. Until then, I will play with the other dogs and dream of my very own forever family.

“I hope to meet you soon!”
