Woodstock Under Red Flag Warning, Wintry Precipitation Expected

A Red Flag Warning means that critical fire weather conditions are either occurring or will occur within 24 hours, according to the NWS.

Cherokee County is among 37 counties are under a Red Flag Warning through 8 p.m. issued by the National Weather Service out of Peachtree City.

The affected area for the Red Flag Warning is for much of north and east Georgia. The NWS reports, low relative humidity and strong winds will lead to dangerous fire conditions.

The weather forecast for the remainder of the day is calling for mostly sunny skies with winds from the west around 15 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph.

Tonight will bring a 30 percent chance of snow and sleet after 5 a.m. Otherwise, it will be mostly cloudy, with a low around 34 and winds coming from the west at 5 to 10 mph becoming light northwest in the evening.

Friday will produce chance of snow before 10 a.m., then a chance of rain and snow between 10 a.m. and 11 a.m., then a chance of rain after 11 a.m. Cloudy, with a high near 54. Chance of precipitation is 30 percent with new snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.
