Six-foot Snake Hitches a Ride

Two employees of a Woodstock company brought back more than left over materials from their job site.

John Gambrell and Mike Bird were returning to their company from a worksite Wednesday evening when they were flagged down as they drove along U.S. 92.

When they stopped the man was waving his hand and pointing to the bumper of the company van and shouting “There is a snake wrapped around your bumper."

To men's surprise they found a 6-foot-long red tail boa constrictor wrapped around the van’s rear bumper, said Tami Keeling, who works with the men at Vision Stairways & Millwork in Woodstock.

"John immediately ran inside to tell Jim Lewis, the President of Vision Stairways & Millwork, about the snake," Keeling said.

A Cherokee County Animal control officer, and a Cherokee County Deputy came and collected the snake without incident

The Animal control officer said that the red tail boa constrictor, which is native to South America, was very healthy and too tame to have been in the wild for long, Keeling said.

"He asked that we contact the homeowner of the jobsite in Alpharetta to see if they or their neighbors had a pet snake get loose, but no one has come forward to claim the snake," Keeling said. "I guess the red tail boa constrictor was curious to get onboard with our growing company."

Tim Jones (from Woodstock) is the guy who saw the boa on the van and flagged down the guys. He has some great pictures and an entire video on how the Deputy untangled the boa from the bumper and trailer hitch. Good job guys. Question, where is this boa now?????

Yes, I was pretty surprised to see a BIG snake wrapped around the trailer hitch of the van in front of me. I followed the van to its place of business. The owner called Animal Control. When the Animal Control officer showed up and saw the size of the snake, he decided to call for backup. :) A Cherokee County Deputy Sheriff was called in who had experience with snakes. He was finally able to extricate the snake from the van's bumper. Here are some additional photos: http://www.flickr.com/photos/yoyobandalore/sets/72157631201050420/
