Swim Safely and Avoid Drowning

 over the Fourth of July holiday weekend, increasing the number of people who have drowned in the lake this summer to at least four. In response to these tragic events and to help prevent drownings, Acworth Patch, Cartersville Patchand Woodstock-Towne Lake Patch have started a joint project called .

This very first segment of the series focuses on swimming safety. Sgt. Mike Barr with the Georgia Department of Natural Resourcesexplains the factors that could potentially lead to drowning and provide useful safety tips for swimmers.

The goal of the Safe on the Lake project is simple－raise awareness about water safety and stop the drownings in Lake Allatoona.
