Water Outage: Brookshire Residents

Brookshire Subdivision's water will be shut off at midnight and will be off for approximately four hours.

Beginning tonight and early morning of Friday, the contractor for the Ridgewalk Interchange Project will be shutting down the domestic public water system, according to the City of Woodstock. This is for the purposes of switching over the water main from the existing pipeline that crosses I-575 through the old bridge which will be demolished to a new main which crosses through the new bridge.

The water will be shut off at approximately midnight and will be off for approximately four hours and no more than six hours while the switch over is made.

Woodstock’s fire, police and public works departments will be on stand-by for pre-cautionary purposes.

This shutdown is only on the City of Woodstock water system and therefore only affects Brookshire subdivision.

The only possibilities that would prevent this shutdown from occurring is unexpected emergencies in progress (especially those where water flow is needed), extreme inclement weather or a pipeline test failure. Regarding a test failure: the new pipeline must go through a routine bacteria test to prove that it is safe for handling potable water. This test is to occur within the next couple of days. If the results of this test are not satisfactory, then the shutdown will be postponed until the pipeline has been prepared for a re-test, tested and passed.

If any postponement of the shutdown occurs, the City will update residents with the revised schedule.
