Council Hears City's Sign Revisions

Follow along with the Woodstock City Council meeting live at 7 p.m.

The will hear the first reading of a proposal for revisions to the Land Development Ordinance Ch. VI. The Planning Commission is asking for amendments to the sign ordiance after a July 6 public hearing saying regulation is neccessary for the public's safety, city's aesthestic's and business' growth.

The Sign Standards that will be presented to the council states, 

"Regulation of the size, height, number and spacing of Signs is necessary to protect the public safety, to assure compatibility of Signs with surrounding land uses, to enhance the business and economy of the City, to protect the public investment in the streets and highways, to maintain the tranquil environment of residential areas, to promote industry and commerce, to eliminate visual clutter and blight, to provide an aesthetically appealing environment, and to provide for the orderly and reasonable display of advertising for the benefit of all the City's citizens."

Police Chief David Bores will also give an update on the from the ordinance that was implemented earlier this summer. ATVs including 4-wheelers, 3-wheelers, motorized vehicles and golfs carts are now prohibited on city-owned trails and drivers can be ticketed up to a $1,000 fine.
