Etowah Leads County with ACT Scores

The Cherokee County School District exceeds the state and national averages with a 22.3.

For the second consecutive year,  leads the county in student population and ACT composite scores. For 2011, the school tested 23.2 on the ACT, 2.6 above the state average.

The also exceeds the state average, 20.6, on the four academic tests on the ACT that include English, reading, mathematics and science and the overall composite score with a 22.3, .1 higher than 2010. The district is also exceeds the national average, 21.1, in all subtests and in the composite score.

The number of seniors who took the ACT in the Cherokee School District was 1,053, or 49 percent of the senior class.

The four academic tests of the ACT Assessment measure abilities in the academic areas traditionally identified with college preparatory high school programs: English, mathematics, reading and science reasoning are the four areas tested

The ACT will be administered locally this year Sept. 10, Oct. 22, Dec. 10, Feb. 11 and April 14 at local high schools.
