River Ridge Student Completes Role as School Board Advisor

Gabby Roth was recognized by the Cherokee County Board of Education last week during her last meeting.

A River Ridge High School student was recently recognized for her service to the Cherokee County School Board.

The board last week recognized Roth, a senior at River Ridge, during her tenure as its student advisor. 

Roth thanked Superintendent of Schools Dr. Frank Petruzielo, Board Chair Janet Read and the School Board for being exemplary leaders.

“I have taken so much away from this opportunity," she said. "You all have shown me how important it is to be civic-minded and active in our community. I appreciate all you do; being in this position has opened my eyes as to why Cherokee County schools are so successful."  

At River Ridge, Roth is president of the school's Senior Class Council and Student Advisory Council; a varsity football cheerleader and competition cheerleader; coach of Junior Knights cheer squad; member of the River Ridge Roundtable Council, Habitat for Humanity Club, Beta Club, Excalibur Leadership Team; and Squires to Knights 8th Grade Transition Team.

The Cherokee County School Board has included a student advisor position on its board since 1999. In the last four years, a student delegate from each of the county's high schools has also been selected. 

These students serve for one year to give input and feedback to the school board. The advisor role each year is rotated among the county’s high schools.
