If you've ever wanted to know why Greta Garbo was such a sensation, a living legend for most all of her long life --this film will show you.  She is absolutely mesmerizing.  She and John Gilbert were real-life lovers during this film and their chemistry is palpable.

John Gilbert was the "star" of this film, according to the trailers and release information of the day.  It's amazing that the filmmakers didn't realize what they had on their hands with young Greta Garbo.  After this film debuted and was such a smashing success, they did!
