Five Swimming Lessons Offered at Cherokee Aquatic Center

The Cherokee Recreation and Parks Agency is offering swimming lessons at the Cherokee County Aquatic Center in Holly Springs.

Registration opened on Aug. 5 and many slots are still available through online registration.

Here are five different swimming classes being offered at the aquatic center this fall:

1. Parent/Child Group Classes: These classes are designed to help youngsters feel comfortable in the water, to be safe while enjoying the pool, and to teach adults the skills they will need to teach their children how to swim.

Level 1: 6mo-18mo
Level 2: 18mo-3yrs

2. Preschool Group Classes: In these sessions, three to five-year-olds will learn how to be safe in and near the pool, how to follow basic instructions, and basic swimming techniques. The end goal is for children to be able to perform basic swimming without instructor assistance.

Level 1: 3yrs-5yrs (Beginner)
Level 2: 3yrs-5yrs (Intermediate)
Level 3: 3yrs-5yrs (Advanced)

3. American Red Cross Group Classes: In progressively more intense courses, students will be taught to swim proficiently under the American Red Cross standards.

Level 1: 6yrs- 12yrs (Beginner-Safety/Basic Skills)
Level 2: 6yrs- 12yrs (Beginner- Skill Development)
Level 3: 6yrs- 12yrs (Intermediate-Basic Skill Refinement)
Level 4: 6yrs- 12yrs (Advanced- Skill Development)
Level 5: 6yrs- 12yrs (Advanced- Skill Refinement)

4. Adult Group Classes: These classes are for anyone older than 13 who would like to become more comfortable in the water and develop better swimming techniques.

Level 1: 13yrs and older (Beginner)
Level 2: 13yrs and older (Intermediate)

5. Private Lessons: Available for children 5 and up. Requests for private lessons will be handled on a first come, first served basis and depend upon availability of instructors and pool space. Fill out a private lesson application here.
