Community Corner

Boy Scouts Troop 639

A local group of scouts works hard to serve the community.

Boy Scouts of America Troop 639

Accomplishment: Under the leadership of Scout Master Jeffrey D. Layne Sr., the members of this troop worked hard in the rain and mud to build a handrail along a driveway. The handrail now enables an elderly homeowner to meet the shuttle that takes her to appointments. Previously, the homeowner, who resides in Canton, had difficulty navigating her steep driveway, particularly in wet and muddy weather.

Key to Awesomeness: Troop 639 is willing to work hard and the scouts truly care about their community. For their next community service project, the troop will take on yard work at the Cherokee County Animal Shelter.
