Cagle: Cherokee is a "Real Player" in Economic Success

Georgia's lieutenant governor and State Sen. Brandon Beach (R-Alpharetta) toured the law enforcement training center under construction in Canton. Both had positive words to say about Cherokee County.

Georgia Lieutenant Gov. Casey Cagle had nothing but praise for Cherokee County as he and State Sen. Brandon Beach made a brief stop in the county on Thursday.

Cagle joined Beach on a tour of Georgia Senate District 21, which includes Cherokee, and also toured the Sheriff Roger Garrison Law Enforcement Training Center under construction in Canton.

Cagle said Cherokee is seeing a "tremendous amount of growth and success," and is becoming a "real player" in ensuring the state is prosperous in the future.

Cagle also praised Beach for his willingness to help his constituents.

In turn, the state senator lauded Cagle, who he said is "all about jobs," for his desire to see the state succeed.

He also praised Cherokee for its high performing school systems, and noted the Cherokee County Regional Airport and its easy access to Interstate 575 will contribute to the county's growth.

The training center is being built by Catamount Constructors Inc. of Roswell for $2.8 million. The state of Georgia has agreed to kick in an additional $700,000 in funding towards the project.

The project includes a main building, which contains about 11,000 square feet of classroom space and sections for other training purposes, a roughly 6,600-square-foot shoot house and an outdoor shooting range.

The Cherokee County Commission last week approved a proclamation naming the center after Garrison.
