Cherokee Announces Teachers of the Year Finalists

The winner will be notified with a surprise visit by Cherokee Superintendent of Schools Dr. Frank Petruzielo.

The nominees for the Cherokee County School District's Teacher of the Year award have been announced.

The nominees (which can be viewed in the .PDF attached) are all winners of the award at their respective schools and between now and the end of October, will complete applications for the district-wide ward.

Each nominee will be judged by a panel of community leaders who will choose the winner.

The winning teacher will be notified with a surprise presentation by Cherokee County Superintendent of Schools Dr. Frank Petruzielo in November.

Along with the winner, each of the school-level winners will be recognized at a banquet held on Dec. 12 at the Northside Hospital-Cherokee Conference Center in Canton.

The banquet and the gifts that will be presented to the teachers during the event are funded by sponsorships from local businesses. The district-wide winner will go on to compete for the title of Georgia Teacher of the Year.

For information about becoming a sponsor, contact Penny Dempsey at (770) 704-4275 or penny.dempsey@cherokee.k12.ga.us.
