District Calendar Revisions Change Last Day of School
Changes to the Cherokee County School District's 2013-14 calendar means the last day of school will now be on Thurs. May 29, 2014.
The Cherokee County School Board on Thursday approved two changes to its current 2013-14 school year calendar that will directly impact its students.
Students will now return from their winter holiday break on Monday Jan. 6, 2014, and the land day of school will be on Thursday May 29, 2014.
That change will allow the district to hold all graduation ceremonies from May 21-31.
The district also formalized the three planned furlough days for school year employees, which was a decrease from the eight from the previous school year. Those days are: Election Day on Nov. 5 (schools were already slated to be closed) and two post-planning days: June 3 and June 4.
School district year-round and other employees have three furlough days on different dates.
