Etowah Will Host Cherokee Band Exhibition

Proceeds from the exhibition will benefit the Etowah High School Band Boosters, which supports the school's band.

The 17th annual Cherokee County Band Exibition will be held tomorrow night at Etowah High School.

The event starts at 7 p.m. Tuesday and tickets are $5 for regular seating and $7 for preferred seating. Elementary and middle school band students are free with a paid adult if those students are wearing his or her band shirt.

Proceeds from the exhibition will benefit the Etowah Eagle Band Boosters.

New this year will be a featured performance of the Reinhardt University's Screaming Eagles Band which is in its inaugural season.

One of the boosters’ main projects is to raise money for new marching band uniforms.

"This is a great way to see all six of the county’s bands perform their half-time shows,” Michael Foxworth, Etowah High School band director. "If you were ever in band, you know how hard all the kids at every school work and this exhibition is a great way to show support for your school’s band program."

The exhibition will kick off with Creekview High School performing "Land of the Free, followed by Woodstock High School presenting "007-50 Years of James Bond," with River Ridge playing its "Daredevil" program.

Sequoyah High follows with "The Quest," Cherokee High School will then perform "Red Light, Green Light," and rounding out the evening is Etowah performing "Afterworld."

The exhibition will top off the evening with a special performance of "Taking Flight" by Reinhardt's band.
