Fiscal Year 2011 Audit Back on School Board Agenda

The Cherokee County School Board will consider asking its auditors to come discuss the audit done for fiscal year ending June 30, 2011.

The Cherokee County School Board will once again discuss its fiscal year 2011 audit during its meeting tonight.

The board's meeting will start at 7 p.m. at the historic Canton High School/School Board Auditorium

The board will consider an item submitted by District 3 board member Michael Geist, which would ask representatives from accounting firm Mauldin & Jenkins to come before the body and answer questions about the audit done for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2011.

The certified public accounting firm performed and completed the audit, which has drawn questions from District 1 board member Kelly Marlow and others who have accused district staff of improperly managing money.

The board will also hold a work session before Thursday's meeting, which will get underway at 6 p.m. Board members will be updated on topics such as Race to the Top, boundary process for the 2014-15 school year, the Affordable Care Act, the Five-Year Strategic Plan and the proposed 2014 Legislative Program.

The full agenda can be viewed on the district's website
