Cherokee's Unemployment Rate Falls to 5.7 Percent

Cherokee's drop in its unemployment rate followed the collective decrease in the metro Atlanta unemployment rate for November.

More people in Cherokee County were able to find work last month.

The county's unemployment rate in November fell to 5.7 percent from 6.3 percent in October. The rate is also lower than its 6.5 percent in November 2012.

Once again, it was Forsyth County who had the lowest rate in the metro Atlanta region. The county's rate for November was 5.3 percent.

The metro Atlanta rate also fell to 7 percent in November from 7.7 percent in October. The rate in November 2012 was 8.1 percent. Georgia's unemployment rate last month was also 7.7 percent, down slightly from 8.1 percent in October and 8.7 percent in November 2012.

Cherokee County's labor force rose to 114,620 in November from 114,041 in October. However, it's still lower than the November 2012 number of 115,349.
