The Woodstock Police Foundation has announced the winners of its second-annual Great American Chili Cook-off.
First place winner in the open division were Chef David Jackson and his team, Stew Live Crew. The team is comprised of participants of many chili cooking compeitions and Jackson was "thrilled" to add another trophy to his collection. Second place went to the Woodstock Fire Department entry with Chef Bobby Stilson and third place went to Chef Bill Raike and Uncle Billy’s Chili.
Over twenty teams entered the cook-off to compete for $2,750 in prize money, trophies and bragging rights. In the commercial division, Gossip Hair Salon headed by Chef Mikel Carlisle was crowned the winner. The team won the contest by one point over the runner-up in the category.
“While there are some very happy contest winners here today, there are no losers," said Woodstock Police Foundation President John Bevilaqua in a press release. "Everyone had a great time, the chili entries were phenomenal and most importantly a lot of money was raised for the Woodstock Police Foundation, which supports a variety of programs for police officers and their families."
PT Sink Company and CEO Troy Welker donated a state of the art pellet grill, which Robert Wright of Woodstock won in a raffle drawing. Other items raffled off include four prime Atlanta Falcon tickets that included a round trip limousine ride. The tickets, donated by John Horney of Woodstock, and were won by Ms. Merry Quarles of Woodstock.
