Woodstock Store Sells Winning Lottery Ticket

An Acworth woman purchased a winning lottery ticket last week in Woodstock.

PJ’s Food Mart, located at 6741 Bells Ferry Road in Woodstock, was where Beverly James purchased her ticket for the Dec. 16 Fantasy 5 drawing, which garnered her $50,000.

James, a medical office professional, said she was "excited" to match all five numbers for the win. 

“I used (family) birthdays and my brother’s football number," she said. 

The winning numbers from the drawing were: 7-9-11-21-32. 

James claimed her prize on Monday at the Georgia Lottery District Office in Dalton.

It's not her first time experiencing a taste of a Georgia Lottery win. James, 54, in 2010 participated in a WellStar office pool that won a $200,000 Powerball prize. 

"We were really happy," James said of how she felt after winning in 2010. "I sat on mine for a little while, which (is what) I will do with this prize."

James learned of her latest winnings as the results were being broadcast on television. James and her husband, Steve, have two adult children. 

She noted her positive attitude has garnered her several lottery wins.

"I always believe that I will win," she said. 

Since its first year, the Georgia Lottery Corporation has returned more than $13.8 billion back to the state for education funding. 

All Georgia Lottery profits pay for educational programs such as Georgia’s HOPE Scholarship Program and Georgia’s Pre-K Program.

More than 1.4 million students have received the HOPE scholarship and more than 1.2 million 4-year-olds have attended the statewide, voluntary pre-kindergarten program.
