Cherokee School District Increases Police Presence
In the aftermath of the Newtown, Conn., tragedy, more law enforcement officers will patrol Cherokee County schools.
The Cherokee County School District has informed parents that it will work with local law enforcement agencies to provide enhanced protection at each one of its school campuses.
Superintendent of Schools Dr. Frank Petruzielo sent home a letter Monday afternoon to parents informing them of the district's plans to coordinate with its district School Police Department, the Cherokee County Sheriff's office and city police agencies in Cherokee County to station officers and deputies in and around district schools.
He also notified parents of the district's measures to prevent a tragedy similar to Friday's Sandy Hook Elementary School shootings from occuring in Cherokee County.
