Cherokee Elections Board To Meet On Poole's Eligibility

The board will rule today whether County Commissioner-elect Brian Poole meets all the qualifications to assume his post in January.

The Cherokee County Board of Elections will meet today at 10 a.m. to decide whether County Commissioner-elect Brian Poole is eligible to assume his post in January.

The board, which will render the decision during its regular meeting, will make the tabled the matter during a called meeting last Wednesday in Canton.

Poole has been accused by eight residents for not paying state and local sales taxes in the state of Alabama. Poole allegedly owes $38,599.09 in sales taxes in the neighboring state.

He has no Democratic opponent in Tuesday's election and, if the board rules in favor of him, he will be sworn into his District 3 Commission post in January.
