Beach Holds Lead Over Jerguson in Senate Race

In unofficial vote totals posted on the Georgia Secretary of State's website, low voter turnout is easy to see even in early returns.

Update @ 10:00 p.m.: With all Cherokee and Fulton precincts reporting, Beach has 58 percent, or 5,470 lead over Jerguson's 42 percent, or 4,031.

Update @ 9:40 p.m.: With 12 out of 15 precints reporting in Fulton County, Beach has a 80.64 percent, or 1,545 vote lead over Jerguson's 19.36 percent, or 371 votes. With all 26 precincts reporting in Cherokee, Beach has a 51.75 percent, or 3,925 lead over Jerguson's 48.25 percent, or 3,660.

Update @ 9:00 p.m.: With 25 out of 26 precincts reporting in Cherokee, Beach maintains at 51.75 percent, or 3,925 lead over Jerguson's 48.25 percent, or 3,660. Patch is still waiting on numbers from Fulton County, but overall Beach maintains a 56 percent, or 5,127 vote lead over Jerguson's 43.6 percent, or 3,965. 

Update @ 8:36 p.m.: With 20 out of 26 precincts reporting in Cherokee, Beach has a 53.07% lead over Jerguson's 46.9%. Patch is still waiting on precinct numbers from Fulton County.

Update at 8:21 p.m.: With five out of 26 precincts reporting in Cherokee, Beach has a 57.6 percent lead over Jerguson's 42.4 percent. Patch is still waiting on results from Fulton County. 

Update @ 8:03 p.m.: Absentee and advanced voting have Greater North Fulton Chamber of Commerce President & CEO Brandon Beach ahead with 65.25 percent, or 1,743, over former State Rep. Sean Jerguson's 34.72 percent, or 927 votes. 

Polls closed at 7 p.m. today in parts of Cherokee County, Alpharetta and Milton for voters to choose the next person to be sworn into the Georgia House District 21 and Georgia Senate District 21 seats.

Voters in the state Senate District 21, which includes the eastern half of Cherokee County, Milton and part of Alpharetta, will choose between Jerguson who lives in Holly Springs Beach, who resides in Alpharetta.
