Woodstock Set to Approve Rubes Creek Trail

The city of Woodstock plans to fund the trail's construction with a federal transportation enhancement grant.

The Woodstock City Council tonight will consider moving forward with the construction of a portion of its trail network.

The council is set to approve an agreement with the Georgia Department of Transportation to move forward with the construction of the Rubes Creek Trail during its meeting tonight, which gets underway at 7 p.m. at the Chambers at City Center.

The project is expected to cost around $675,000. The project is funded with a transportation enhancement grant, with the federal government contributing 80 percent — or $450,000 — of the cost while the city will fund 20 percent, or $135,000.

The trail will run south along the creek — near Arnold Mill Road close to the Woodstock Fire Station 14 — and will be about 1.1 miles.

Before its meeting, the council will hold a goodbye reception for Ward 1 Councilman Randy Brewer, which starts at 6:30 p.m. Brewer has served on the council since 2001 and decided not to seek a fourth term.
