Woodstock Wants To Repair Five Roads

The Woodstock City Council tonight will consider awarding a bid to a company to make asphalt repairs on five city streets.

The Woodstock City Council is poised to award a bid to a paving company to repair three roads in its city limits on Monday.

The council will consider awarding a bid to Cartersville-based Bartow Paving to make repairs to Daventry Court, Yorkshire Lane, Commonwealth Drive, Rook Place and Buckingham Place. The proposed contract amount is set at $154,858.

The council is also set to approve setting its 2013 millage rate at 7.889 mills.

If the rate holds at 7.889 mills, a homeowner whose house is valued at $160,000, with the standard $5,000 exemption, would pay around $482 in city property taxes.

Chief Financial Officer Robert Porche noted that while the city lost about $5 million in assessed value of its 2013 digest, he does not expect to impact the council's decision to leave the rate in place.

The meeting will start at 7 p.m. at the Chambers at City Center.
