Cherokee BOE Wants Kelly Marlow To Pay Fine

A fine of $3,600 was imposed by the board in October when it confirmed Marlow violated ethics policies when she asked AdvancED to investigate the district.

The Cherokee County School Board is expected to collect the ethics fine levied against District 1 member Kelly Marlow during its meeting tonight.

The board's meeting starts at 7 p.m. at the historic Canton High School/School Board Auditorium in Canton.

The fine of $3,600 was imposed upon Marlow after the board in October confirmed she violated board policy when she unilaterally asked AdvancED to investigate her colleagues.

The collection of the fine had been delayed as Marlow appealed her decision to the State Board of Education. The state board earlier this month upheld the decision by the local school board.

Marlow during the meeting will also discuss some of the findings noted by Mauldin & Jenkins in the district's fiscal year 2011 audit.

The full agenda for tonight's school board meeting can be viewed on the Cherokee County School District's website.
