Cherokee Teachers Participate in Reading For AP Exams

Several Cherokee County School District teachers recently participated in the College Board's annual Advanced Placement (AP) Reading to score the free-response sections of student’s AP Exams. 

AP teachers and college faculty members from around the world are selected each year as readers for more than 3.7 million AP Exams.  

These teachers included: from Creekview High School, Michael Sinco (AP World History); Etowah High School, Kevin Wall (AP English Literature) and Mary Shell (AP World History); River Ridge High School, Keith Hooper (AP Spanish); Sequoyah High School, Cathy Barco (AP Psychology), Elaine Dasher (AP English Literature) and Allison Webb (AP Spanish); and Woodstock High School, Maria Gogerty (AP Spanish Language), Andy Hall (AP English Language), Dan Paige (AP Human Geography) and Krista Webb (AP World History).  Ms. Gogerty also served as a Table Leader during the Reading.

"The Reading draws upon the talents of some of the finest teachers and professors that the world has to offer," said Trevor Packer, Senior Vice President, AP and College Readiness at the College Board. "It fosters professionalism, allows for the exchange of ideas, and strengthens the commitment to students and to teaching. We are very grateful for the contributions of these talented educators."

Along with a more rigorous cirriculum, AP courses give students the chance to earn college credit from most colleges and universities by earning a score of 3 out of 5 or higher on the AP exam.
