River Ridge High Student Organizes Holiday Light Display

Student Cody Gregory is behind the school's first-ever Light Up The Knight holiday light display.

Cherokee County's newest high school will soon provide a way for families to enjoy Christmas decorations closer to home.

River Ridge High School will hold its inaugural Light Up The Knight drive-though holiday light display on Saturday, Dec. 7. 

Residents can drop in any time between 6 p.m. and 9 p.m. at the school, which is located at 400 Arnold Mill Road in Woodstock.

The event, which is free, is the brainchild of student Cody Gregory, who said he wanted to create the event so "that families that could not afford go to Lake Lanier and other holiday light displays would have an affordable option."

Sponsored by the school's Crusading Knights Community Service Club, the event will feature student groups and teams who will decorate a space along the route and/or perform songs. The best display will be awarded $100.

River Ridge teacher Judy Haggerty's architecture class will also sponsor a Silent Knight Auction, which will auction off a girl's dollhouse and man cave dollhouse for boys.
