Woodstock Students Participate in Park(ing) Day 2013

The event last week was utilized to draw attention to the need for open, urban spaces.

Woodstock Elementary School took its celebration of Read for the Record to the streets by participating in GROW's Park(ing) Day 2013 on Sept. 20.

Woodstock Elementary first-grade teacher Debby Pinion organized The Ferst Foundation for Childhood Literacy of Cherokee County’s station at the event, which featured guest readers, children’s activities and music by her husband Martin.

The foundation's farm theme was inspired by this year’s Read for the Record book, "Otis" by Loren Long. Read for the Record is set for Oct. 3, and is designed for people to come together to celebrate literacy and early childhood education.
